Breathe Carolina - Skate Deck

Denver based Electronic Duo, Breathe Carolina, hosted an art contest to design a skate deck. I did not win, but it was fun to participate.
Brief: Design a skateboard deck embodied the musical stylings of the band. I felt a pulsing, gritty, writhing aspect that made me think of snakes tangled in cables. I chose to have their logo lockup on the edge of the deck as grinding the deck across rails and curbs tends to wear to the center of the deck down. Positioning the name on the side would make the name last longer. Below are the initial sketches, the clean art and mockups of art applied.
